Creating a tighter cuff on The Lounge Shirt
This version of The Lounge Shirt was part of the Evergreen fashion story in the Autumn 21 magazine. The cuffs here are tighter than the original.
The sleeves of The Lounge Shirt are very wide at the top and tapper to a loose fitting cuff; it works with the whole idea of this intentionally oversized shape. But for this latest version I tightened the cuff by adding additional tucks as follows.
Take the Upper Sleeve pattern piece and add notches as shown at points A, B, C and D. A is placed 5cm from the seam notch, B is 2cm from A, then the gap between Band C is 2.5cm with D 2cm from C.
When making up the shirt, fold A to B and C to D and stitch down. This is different from the tuck on the under sleeve, where the fabric is folded first at A then at B to create the tuck. The cuff pieces are shortened by 4cm.
The shirt is then made up as instructed.
