Spring Outerwear: The Maker's Top

This version of The Maker’s Top was inspired by @crazydarnlady on Instagram.

Here is her Maker’s Top she’d made for a camping trip last September in Fabworks’ Heart of Huddersfield ‘Foggy Pastures’ Marled Melton. This coat weight wool fabric is ideal for an outerwear top to slip over lighter layers in Spring or Autumn.

I chose this vibrant Ultramarine Twill Melton from the Fabworks’ Heart of Huddersfield range. The colour worked perfectly for the Maritime story in the Spring 22 magazine. I went up a size so Polly who modelled here is a size 12 wearing the top in a size 14.

I chose the longer length and lengthened the sleeve by 8cm to allow for a turned back cuff.

The day of the shoot was a typical blustery day but the compact weave of the cloth kept out the wind chill; perfect as outerwear when you don’t want a coat. The Maker’s Top is worn here with The Lounge Pant
