Fabric Direction for Autumn 2017
15th September 2017

What to wear? What to make? Where to start?

Here's a brief round up of this season's fabric trends.

Beyond Tweed

This is the season for the statement coat.

On the catwalks every sort of treatment was used to add interest.

Be inspired to make more with your fabrics; try applique, embellishment or embroidery.

A season of contrasts

While there's lots of leather and hi-shine fabrications out there, its corduroy that's really making a comeback.

Choose from fine wale needle-cord through to exaggerated elephant cord, for everything from coats to trousers.

Dark Florals

Dark and dramatic, these deeply romantic prints are more sophisticated than pretty.

The dark ground with paler florals make these so wearable in winter.

Stripes are big news....

Bolder and brighter than ever - wear them running down the body for the strongest style statement.

Polka Dots

Traditionally considered more of a spring fabrication, especially in navy and white. But this year they are just as relevant in autumn.

Dark Denim

Crisp and clean, wear head to toe for urban chic!

A long time favourite at The Maker's Atelier, silver is the metallic of the season - and not just for eveningwear, try pairing with grey marl jersey for day.
