The perfect wrap jersey dress in two versions – wrapped and tied or with a fixed crossover front.
The crossover is cut high to avoid gaping at the cleavage. While the sleeves are designed to be fashionably overlong, but look just as good worn on the wrist.
Fluid single jersey fabrics with Lycra content. Ideally with plenty of drape - viscose, polyester or silk mixes.
The Wrap Dress in a Day at Midhurst Sewing Room.
I love your patterns, but do sometimes have difficulty changing the lengths!
I am just under 5' 2" and made the following pattern adjustments for this Wrap Dress:-
I cut out the pattern for size 12. (I can be generous sewing the seams!)
Folding the hem up 5 centimetres and doing the same for the sleeves - finished back neck to hem 93 cm
All the seams were overlooked before being sewn together on a stretch stitch setting.
Stretch iron on interfacing:- used at shoulder seams ironed on to back of materiel by seam edge and incorporated in sewing the seam to create a sharp finish. About just over 1 cm. used for this of the interfacing.
Stretch interfacing was used at the hem and side edges 2 and half cm. width to create a sharp edge finish. Also interfaced hem edge of sleeves
The only hand sewing used was at the neck edge down to the waist, as my jersey material would not look good with machine stitching on the outside. Although at the sleeve edge I used a three step zig zag.
