Two more variations of The Hooded Contemporary Sweatshirt
Here are two simple variations of the hooded Contemporary Sweatshirt, which have become my latest wardrobe staples.
For the sweatshirt version I simply made up the hooded sweatshirt, omitting the elastic but retaining the depth of waistband and cuff. You may need to shorten the sleeve, as the sleeve is longer without the gathered detail pulling the sleeve up.
The sweatshirt dress, which I especially love, is the same shape, but with the front and back pieces extended by 40cm. For this longer length I needed half a metre more fabric than the quantities on the pattern. I left the shape 'square' as it suited the loop-back cotton jersey I used. This had an approximate weight of 220-240gsm.
This dress would also make a great beach cover up in summer. For that I would choose a lighter weight jersey probably around the 190-210 gsm and possibly tapper the side seam slightly.
