A Spring Mac
I’ve always wanted a classic mac and when I acquired some fabulous coated cotton from British Millerain I knew exactly how I wanted it to look.
I used The Classic Coat pattern and selected the single breasted option. I lengthened it by 10cm as I wanted a longer length.
I also altered the position and angle of the welt pockets to be parallel with the side seam.
I decided to leave the coat unlined and opted to finish the edges with Hong Kong binding. I used a coordinating cotton shirting for the binding. There’s a great tutorial from Claire Tyler on continuous binding here and another on Hong Kong binding here.
I used the same cotton shirting for the pocket bags – these are just visible above. The finished mac is exactly as I wanted it.
