Lengthening The Lounge Pant
A friend was asking me what The Lounge Pant would look like longer? I wasn't sure so the best thing to do was to try it out. I had two metres of crepe fabric, which I wasn’t that taken with, so I thought I’d give it a go! The fabric has plenty of drape but maybe a little on the light side for trousers.
Working with the size 12, I extended the length of both the front and back pattern pieces by 20cm. I lessened the tapper of the inside leg seams slightly, so that the front leg hem measured 18cm and the back leg 21cm. Due to the fabric weight I omitted the side pockets, as the impression of these would show through when worn. But I retained the back pockets, which I finished with twin-needle stitching. I finished the front with a simple button.
When I tried the trousers on to decide on the finished length, I was surprised this fabric works really well in this shape. I also like the idea of wearing them slightly too long, which I know is not to everyone's taste. But that's the beauty of dressmaking - being able to finish clothes exactly the way you want them.
