Winter layers with The Oversized T-shirt
When I was considering the Layers fashion story for the Spring 21 magazine, I wanted a longish top as the under layer.
The Oversized T-shirt from The Essential Collection book was my starting point. I used a variety of viscose/elastane single jersey fabrics and these are the alterations I made to get the shape I wanted.
As the name suggests this style is oversized but I wanted to slim it down so I dropped a size. Then I raised the neckline - what works for most of the year is a bit too exposed in the coldest months.
I redrew the front scoop 4cm higher graduating to the existing neckline at the shoulder seam. For a longer length in the body by 6cm and the sleeves I cut out as if for the deep hem but finished both with a simple 1cm turn and stitched with a twin needle.
The finished effect is a great basic to wear under The Big Easy Top, Contemporary Sweatshirt or The Quilted Gilet. I love the band of contrasting colour showing under another top.
