SEWING ABILITY: MEDIUM
An updated classic shirt with extended yoke for a dropped shoulder effect. This shirt has three distinct variations: a classic straight back, a pleated back and a gathered back with gathered sleeves.
The straight and gathered back shirts are longer than the pleated back shirt, so they can be worn tucked in.
Both the straight and gathered back shirts are suitable for those with medium experience, especially if choosing the simpler of the two cuff placket options. Where as the pleated back shirt is for experienced sewers.

I have made quite a few blouses with plackets. Other pattern makers use a different method to construct the placket. The method described by Makers Atelier is so sensible and straightforward. I’m pleased with the result. Next up is the TMA Pull-On Shirt! I’m looking forward to it.”

This is a size 8 but I could have easily sized down. I decided to make it a short sleeve for the ease of summer. I can totally see another version which is cropped in a heavier fabric. Eek!

I cut a smaller pattern for my daughter who wanted the gathered back version and I will, when time permits make the pleated back version for myself. It works beautifully with a linen/cotton mix fabric. I top-stitched the collar and cuffs in scarlet and made scarlet buttonholes with shell buttons. @lesleykfudge

I wanted to recreate the beautiful blouse worn by Carey Mulligan in The Dig (2021), so I used the design of one of the collars in the Assembly Line shirt pattern, and covered some buttons. I love it. Mary Claire, USA“I fell in love with the Atelier Shirt when I saw the pleating on the back. I found this cotton fabric at Michael’s (a US craft store) and thought it would work well. I spent quite a bit of time with the pleats as I wanted them to be uniform and to hang well. I stitched down the inside of the back of each one to facilitate ironing when the blouse was complete.
I have made quite a few blouses with plackets. Other pattern makers use a different method to construct the placket. The method described by Makers Atelier is so sensible and straightforward. I’m pleased with the result. Next up is the TMA Pull-On Shirt! I’m looking forward to it.”

It is a classic shirt with this great twist. I immediately purchased the pattern and used this gorgeous baby soft minerva core range poplin fabric gifted to me by @minervadotcom as part of their ambassador program.
This is a size 8 but I could have easily sized down. I decided to make it a short sleeve for the ease of summer. I can totally see another version which is cropped in a heavier fabric. Eek!

I made a size 8 that corresponds with a bust of 34inches. The finished garment measurement is 43 inches, so is an oversized shirt.

Lesley, UKI really like the smart/casual tailored look of the shirt pattern. I am an embroiderer, not a seamstress but found the printed pattern very easy to follow. I cut a smaller pattern for my daughter who wanted the gathered back version and I will, when time permits make the pleated back version for myself. It works beautifully with a linen/cotton mix fabric. I top-stitched the collar and cuffs in scarlet and made scarlet buttonholes with shell buttons. @lesleykfudge

It’s the #ateliershirt by @themakersatelier The shirt has a number of views but there is no looking past the sensational pleated back view. Made from a linen cotton blend fabric that may have been obtained through nefarious means. I accidentally cut a size down but it still fits. This was an interesting sew with all the trickiness of a shirt with added pleats. @adymadie
