I LOVE this top. I’ve made 3 short sleeve versions and look forward to making the longer hooded shirt with drawstring. I used linen and 100% cotton. They look and feel great with linen trousers and jeans. The pattern can quite easily be made in a day including cutting time.
I had a bit of trouble figuring out how to get a neat V on the neckline when stitching facing to garment. I reached out to Uma at admin@themakersatelier.com for guidance. Clipping the seam allowance very close to precise point of V on both garment and facing allowed me to manipulate the stitches to achieve a better point.
I shortened the top by 2 inches and raised the V-neck opening by 1.5 inches. I decreased the length of the collar to create a notched collar on one of the tops. I like it both ways. I’ve also made The Maker’s Top, The Box Shirt and The Lounge Shirt. LOVE them all!!!
I have purchased patterns for: Two Contemporary Sweatshirts, The Utility Coat and The Wide-Legged Trousers. I’m Looking forward to making these as well.

I'm really keen to share my success with one of your fabulously effortless patterns - after years of 'free form sewing' with no pattern - they are a delight to use! I made your holiday top in a lovely green cotton before tackling the 'kit' in ivory linen that I bought from you. I haven't worn the ivory one yet, but I had loads of compliments for my green one - no-one believing I'd made it. I'm excited to wear the linen one as I know I'm going to love it every bit as much. I reduced the length on both -- the green one is slightly shorter than the ivory one but they are both a couple of inches shorter than the pattern. It's just the way I prefer to wear this shape of top. For Autumn / winter, I'm planning a version in a medium weight, knitted, jersey. I'll lengthen the sleeves to three quarters and add in a slit at the bottom of the sleeve, like the ones in the shirt hem on the pattern. If it works out like I hope it does, I'll send a photo of that one too! A tip for anyone who does get the kit in linen from you ... finish the edges before making up the garment! I wish I had done because there are loose threads all over the place! Love your patterns and the clear layout of your website is fab too. I'm definitely a Maker's Atelier convert

The Holiday Top is in my opinion a great wardrobe builder, boxy top. Very comfortable to wear. The construction of the garment is very easy with the exception of the front facing because the instructions are a bit tricky. The pattern is printed in a very sturdy paper (I love it!) and has lots of tips and drawings. I’m sure I will sew this top many times!
