I love the style of this pattern, it’s the sort of thing I feel is stylish and comfortable, I especially like a cocoon shape, as it’s very flattering. I am basically a size 18 in RTW say as M&S sizes. I am almost 60 but I like to be stylish especially as I teach fashion and textiles. I find a lot of patterns need altering for me as the top arm is too tight and as grading up sizes the lengths often get to long and necklines too big etc. this didn’t happen with your pattern. I don’t wear fitted styles as I have no waistline, I wouldn’t wear a belt.
The mannequin in my photos is a size 20 Kennet and Lindsell which has the same measurements as me apart from the waistline where I am larger. I also have small shoulders for my size. I am 5ft 4 inches tall. Having said that my bust is 114cm so I traced size XL and made a toile, I always make a toile, it’s worth the time. I loved it but decided, as I am not so tall, I could look a little swamped, so re traced a size L. If I were taller / younger I would embrace a more oversized look. The only alteration I made to the pattern was shortening the sleeve as I didn’t want the roll up and I lengthened the top a little I love the subtle amount of neckline fullness and the deep armhole. I have a few of your patterns and they all fit me no alterations needed, and that is fantastic.
I made up the pattern as a top in Ikat fabric from M&M, which I wore a lot on holiday. It is plenty big enough and still has the oversized look. It made up really well the pattern is beautiful simplicity. I know as a pattern cutter myself, it’s time consuming to make a pattern and I don’t have much time. I buy patterns to keep myself in a me- made wardrobe. I like to use patterns a few times and vary the details.
I also made a dress for mum in the green floral viscose from Sew Essential. I made the same size L (mum is a little larger than me). She loves it. I’m sure Ill be making more with this pattern.
