Here’s my Maker’s Atelier Tie Front Blouse, the perfect top for this sunny spring day. What a great pattern! Versatile, and clear instructions. I made it up in Liberty Tana Lawn, a recommended fabric. Much care needed to avoid flower boob AND ensure pattern matching across the button placket 😬 Achieved! ✅
I cut a size 10 and made my usual 1.5cm forward shoulder adjustment and a 1cm high round back adjustment. I didn’t bother rotating out the shoulder seam dart as a result of doing the high round back adjustment as I do prefer it there, the blouse sits better when on. And it is barely visible. I measured the sleeve pattern piece against my sleeve block as it looked a bit on the long side - it was, so I shortened the sleeves by 5cm. The sleeves are now 👌 In fact, I love the sleeves - they are cut very slim and nicely offset the squareness of the bodice so that the overall look is not boxy or bulky.
I’ve worn this blouse several times now and it does really well under a coat or jacket. Sartorial top tip - leave the top button of your coat undone and you can have the bow boldly on display on the outside instead of squashed underneath 🎀 Instant glamourfication 💥 Channels nicely into the emerging trend for tie-neck scarves and other neckline embellishments! @mimosa_sewing

I used a @themakersatelier pattern for the first time. The pattern was simple to follow and the instructions for the front and hem seams left a really beautiful finish to the inside. Also lots of different options for the tie section. Can make it longer, shorter, wider or thinner for different looks. Used elastic shirring at the bottom of the sleeves to finish them off.
